Many people enjoy watching the sunrise when the sun's rays are scattered by the dust in the Earth's atmosphere, so the sky is filled with haze.

But the haze is lighter at sunrise than at sunset because there is less dust in the atmosphere at sunrise than at sunset.

The time of sunrise varies according to the season and the latitude of each location. Traditionally, sunrise is thought to be the latest at the winter solstice in the northern hemisphere, but in fact, it is the latest in early January.

Even in equatorial regions, the times of sunrise and sunset vary slightly throughout the year. These variations can be expressed in terms of daily tracks. The times of sunrise and sunset can be calculated by following the path of the sun, but the calculated times will be slightly different from the real ones, with longer hours of sunlight and shorter hours of darkness.

Because sunlight is refracted by the Earth's atmosphere, people see the sunrise before it rises above the horizon, an illusion created by the daily sunrise.

Painters are also fond of sunrises.《 Sunrise Impressions》 is an oil painting by the French painter Monet (1840 - 1926).

The painting depicts a foggy morning in the French port of Le Havre, with two swaying boats appearing hazy and blurred, the figures on board faintly discernible, and the factory chimneys and cranes on board looming in the distance.

Monet has captured the true colors of nature in this work, with the sea tinted lavender by the morning sun and the sky haloed in various shades of red.
