When we embarked on our Manhattan adventure, we were ready to immerse ourselves in the vibrant pulse of New York City.
From towering skyscrapers to world-class museums and iconic landmarks, Manhattan offers a whirlwind of experiences that capture the essence of the Big Apple.
Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island
Our journey began with a ferry ride to the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island. The Statue of Liberty, standing tall as a symbol of freedom, is a must-see. We took the first ferry at 8:30 AM, giving us plenty of time to explore the museum and enjoy the breathtaking views from Liberty Island. Tickets cost $24.50 for adults and include access to Ellis Island, where we learned about the immigrant experience at the Immigration Museum.
Central Park
Next on our list was Central Park, an oasis in the heart of the city. We wandered through its 843 acres, taking in landmarks like Bethesda Terrace and the Bow Bridge. Central Park is open year-round and free to visit. We rented bikes for $15 an hour to cover more ground, discovering hidden gems like the Conservatory Garden and the Alice in Wonderland statue.
The Metropolitan Museum of Art
No trip to Manhattan would be complete without a visit to The Met. We spent a few hours marveling at masterpieces from across the globe. Admission is suggested at $30 for adults, but pay what you wish if you’re a New York State resident or student. The Met’s vast collection and stunning architecture made for an unforgettable experience.
Times Square
We couldn’t miss Times Square, the dazzling heart of Manhattan. We visited in the evening to witness the neon lights and billboards come alive. Times Square is always buzzing, and while strolling through is free, grabbing a bite at one of the nearby restaurants gave us a taste of the local flavor.
For a touch of luxury, we stayed at The Langham, New York, Fifth Avenue. Located conveniently near many attractions, this hotel offers a blend of elegance and comfort. Rooms start at $650 per night, with amenities like a full-service spa and fine dining. It was the perfect retreat after our busy days exploring the city.
Joe’s Pizza
Our food journey started at Joe’s Pizza in Greenwich Village. This iconic spot serves some of the best New York-style pizza. A classic slice costs around $3.50, and we couldn’t resist trying a variety of toppings.
Chelsea Market
For a more eclectic food experience, Chelsea Market was a must-visit. We grazed through artisanal vendors offering everything from gourmet tacos to fresh-baked pastries. We spent about $20 per person sampling different foods, making it a delicious and affordable stop.
Levain Bakery
We ended our culinary tour at Levain Bakery, famous for its decadent cookies. At $4.75 each, these cookies are a splurge worth every cent. The gooey centers and rich flavors made for a sweet end to our Manhattan adventure.
Our time in Manhattan was nothing short of exhilarating. From the awe-inspiring Statue of Liberty to the culinary delights that kept our taste buds dancing, Manhattan proved to be a city that truly never sleeps.
Dear Lykkers! Whether you’re exploring its iconic landmarks or indulging in its world-renowned food, Manhattan promises an experience that will stay with you long after your visit.
