Camping at night is a lot of fun and no more boring than camping during the day. With the stars shining overhead and your campfire blazing away, nighttime offers plenty of great camping activities. The options are nearly limitless as to what you can do at night in the great outdoors.
The best thing is, nighttime camping activities are great for any age, whether you’re an old timer who prefers staring into the burning embers of your campfire or a kid bursting with excitement, because it’s your first time sleeping outside.
If you need help planning a few fun nighttime activities, here are some options that the whole family is sure to love.
1.Night walk
If you’re ready to get away from the campfire and set off on a little adventure, it’s time to embark on a night walk. You can use flashlights or lanterns if you wish, but you’d be surprised at how well your eyes adjust to the darkness if you give them a chance.
All it takes is about 15 minutes with no lights. Explore the paths around your tent or cabin, and let your ears get acquainted with the stillness. You may even be able to pick up the rustling of some nearby nocturnal animals.
2.Stories at night
Darkness blurs everything, and nothing gets your team excited more than a good old-fashioned romance. Of course, it depends on the interests of most of you.
For a romantic evening, why not bring a few poetry collections? If you are traveling with family. You can also tell interesting childhood stories that your child has never heard of.
3.Games in the dark
The nighttime can be the best time for some late-night games. The classics that will never go out of style are nighttime hide-and-seek. The darkness adds an extra dimension of interest.
Just be sure to keep everyone safe during the games, especially the younger campers. If your group has very little campers, try pairing up in teams to make sure that they have a buddy!
In addition to play activities, before camping, we also need to know the necessary items we need to prepare. They ensure that we have a convenient and enjoyable time.
1. Get a good ground mat
The first thing to consider is what you’ll be sleeping on. The ground will absorb all of your heat given a chance, so make sure you put the right gear between you and it. The guide to sleeping mats should tell you everything you need to know.
2. If you’re going to spend money on one item, let it be your sleeping bag
Your sleeping bag is going to be your main insulation while you sleep, so investing in something comfortable, lightweight and long-lasting is worth the money.
3. Take a comfy pillow
You can buy camping pillows, but they’re not necessarily needed. If you’re backpacking or low on space, camping pillows can pack down to save on weight and room. Otherwise, any comfy pillow you like will do the job.
4.Pack a hot water bottle
If you’re especially susceptible to cold weather and camping with the means to heat up water, a hot water bottle can be a great option for tucking inside your sleeping bag. Just remember that if you get so hot that you start to sweat, you may wake up colder later in the night.
5.Buy a bigger tent than you think you’ll need
The size of a tent is described by the maximum number of people that can sleep inside it. A two-berth tent, for example, is designed to fit two adults.
Although this is great as a rough guide, you’ll probably want some extra space to store your gear and move around inside your tent. We recommend buying a tent which is at least one size up from the amount of people sleeping in it.
